Hello,

I have seen the spotify and the rhytmbox modules and was thinking about implementing a more general approach for mpris-compatible players. This could provide a more general approach and support most players nowadays (including spotify e.g.)

The existing module could be copied and adapted mostly using playerctl. I could contribute it, but would like to check first if you are interested in merging something like this.

Btw. It also works with browsers playing video/audio.
Let me know what your thought are and I will submit a PR for this.

That would be awesome! I was thinking about it, as, as far I remember, playerctl can provide current playing position, which I wasn't able to get from Spotify client for Linux.
Please contribute, I would be happy to have it!

I was interested in the functionality so I went ahead and implemented it.
I think we can close.

It's in progress. I'll close this issue when it's done. Thank you for your input!
